SHOP THE BEST UV POOL SYSTEMS

Ultraviolet Pool Systems

Reduce Chemical Usage by up to 85%

Spectralight ultraviolet pool sanitation system

Shop UV Pool Systems

Ultraviolet pool sanitation is the cleanest way to kill what chlorine struggles with. As water passes the Spectralight UV chamber, high-output UV-C light neutralizes bacteria, viruses, and chlorine-resistant parasites like Cryptosporidium and Giardia — the ones responsible for most recreational water illnesses. The result is softer, clearer water, fewer harsh chemical odors, and up to 85% less chlorine. Free shipping, no restocking fees, and a full 30 Day Trial on every system.

Why Add a UV System to Your Pool?

Chlorine alone can’t do it all. UV-C sanitation destroys the microorganisms chlorine misses — while letting you run far lower chemical levels for water that’s gentler on eyes, skin, and equipment.

Kills 99.9% of Pathogens

UV-C light disrupts the DNA of bacteria, viruses, and algae so they can’t reproduce or infect — including chlorine-tolerant crypto and giardia.

Up to 85% Less Chemicals

Let UV shoulder the sanitation workload and you can maintain much lower chlorine levels — saving money and softening your water.

Gentler on Swimmers

Fewer chloramines mean no red eyes, no dry skin, and no heavy chemical smell — just fresh, comfortable water for the whole family.

No Chemical Byproducts

Unlike chlorine or ozone, UV sanitizes with light alone — adding nothing to your water and leaving no taste, residue, or corrosive byproduct.

Low, Simple Maintenance

Just one lamp change a year and an occasional quartz-sleeve wipe. No moving parts, no reagents, no daily upkeep.

Works With Any Sanitizer

Chlorine, bromine, or saltwater — UV installs inline after your filter and complements the system you already run.

How UV-C Sanitation Works

Your pump pushes water through the Spectralight chamber, where it flows past a high-output UV-C lamp housed in a protective quartz sleeve. In a fraction of a second, that concentrated ultraviolet light scrambles the DNA of any microorganism passing through.

Bacteria, viruses, and algae are left unable to reproduce or cause illness. The treated water returns to your pool cleaner and safer — without a single chemical being added.

Spectralight UV 2.0 ultra high output lamp technology

UV 2.0 Ultra High Output

Spectralight’s UV 2.0 lamps deliver roughly four times the germicidal power of standard high-output UV lamps, so more of your water is disinfected on every pass through the chamber.

Because you can’t over-dose UV, larger units simply apply a higher UV dosage — giving you a built-in margin for heavy bather loads, algae season, and hotter water.

Built to Last Outdoors

Every Spectralight system is built around an industrial graphite housing infused with titanium dioxide for maximum UV resistance, paired with weather-protected, fused InteliVolt electronic ballasts for reliable, efficient operation.

The whole unit disassembles with no tools, so annual lamp and quartz-sleeve service takes minutes — and the long-life lamp is rated for 13,000 hours of continuous use.

UV Pool System FAQ

How do UV pool systems work?

UV pool systems work by passing pool water through a chamber equipped with ultraviolet light. As water flows past the UV lamp, the light neutralizes bacteria, viruses, algae, and other harmful microorganisms by disrupting their DNA. The sanitized water then returns to your pool, providing a powerful layer of protection alongside your existing filtration.

How much can UV systems reduce pool chemical usage?

UV pool systems can reduce chlorine and chemical usage by up to 50% to 75%, depending on pool size and conditions. By handling a significant portion of the sanitation workload, UV systems allow you to maintain lower chemical levels while still keeping your pool water safe and clean. This means less chemical odor and gentler water for swimmers.

Are UV pool systems safe?

Yes, UV pool systems are completely safe. The ultraviolet light is contained within a sealed chamber in the plumbing line, so swimmers are never exposed to UV radiation. The system only treats water as it passes through, making it one of the safest supplemental sanitation methods available for residential and commercial pools.

How does UV compare to saltwater sanitation?

Both UV and saltwater systems aim to reduce traditional chlorine usage, but they work differently. Saltwater systems generate chlorine from salt, while UV systems neutralize pathogens with light without producing any chemicals. UV systems are less corrosive to pool equipment and don't affect water chemistry, making them a low-maintenance complement to any pool setup.

What maintenance do UV pool systems require?

UV pool systems require minimal maintenance. The UV lamp typically needs to be replaced once per year to maintain effective sanitation. The quartz sleeve that protects the lamp should be cleaned periodically to ensure maximum UV light transmission. Beyond that, UV systems operate automatically with no day-to-day upkeep required. Contact us for replacement lamps and maintenance tips.

Do I still need chlorine with a UV pool system?

Yes, but far less of it. A UV system only sanitizes water as it passes through the chamber — it doesn’t leave a lasting residual in the pool the way chlorine does. Keeping a low chlorine (or bromine) level maintains protection between filtration cycles and in areas the water hasn’t reached yet. Most pool owners run UV alongside a small residual sanitizer and cut their overall chemical use by 50% to 85%.

Will a UV system get rid of algae?

UV is highly effective at controlling free-floating algae spores as water circulates through the chamber, which helps prevent green-water blooms before they start. It works best as part of a complete setup — good circulation, filtration, and a small chlorine residual — so algae is attacked from every angle. For established surface algae you’ll still want to brush and shock, but UV dramatically reduces how often that happens.

How much does it cost to run a UV pool system?

UV systems are very economical to operate. Spectralight units draw between 80 and 300 watts depending on model — similar to a couple of light bulbs — and only run while your pump is circulating. The main recurring cost is a replacement lamp roughly once a year. Most owners find the chemical savings alone offset the running cost, especially on larger or heavily used pools.
