Will my corded Dolphin clean the stairs?

Short answer: Most corded Dolphin robots are not programmed to clean stairs, but updated S-line models have a jet step cleaning feature.

Tools: Pool brush

Based on Maytronics support, updated 2026-03-31, rewritten by Poolbots' pool experts. Parts that fix it are below.

The answer

What to know.

Most corded Dolphin robots are not programmed to clean stairs, benches, or tanning ledges. Updated corded S-line models are the exception. The cordless EON and Liberty 600 models can also clean these areas.

Corded S-line models recently gained a jet step cleaning feature. Step-detection technology lets the robot climb steps. As it descends, a water jet turns on automatically to flush away dirt and debris. More

Dolphin robots without a step-cleaning feature need a minimum water depth of 31-41 inches to operate properly. If the water covering the robot is too shallow, it cannot clean and will back down. For these robots to clean a stair, the entire robot must be on the step and the water must be deep enough.

To help your Dolphin collect debris from the stairs, brush the dirt off the steps and onto the pool floor where the robot can reach it.
